Becak, an environmentally friendly means of transit
Here we have becak, or pedicab, trishaw or cycle rickshaw. Becaks (pronounced bay-cha, like ya, sure you betcha, only bay-cha, as a small-scale local means of transport, are used in most large Indonesia cities.
Surabaya, Medan and Semarang host the largest numbers of pedicabs. The vehicle is powered by a driver as one would a bicycle. The configuration of driver and passenger seats vary by design. The driver usually sits behind the passenger seat on a tadpole tricycle, but in some cities, the passenger seats are located beside the driver.
Cycle rickshaws are human powered, but now some are equipped with an electronic motor to assist the driver. They are often used on a for hire basis, equipped with one or more seats for carrying passengers in addition to the driver. The human powered transport has caught on as an environmentally friendly means of transit. Believe me, a passenger will have an entirely different urban experience when one rides in a becak.

Ayo cegah global warming…. Kembali ke becak…!?
